CRYSTAL HEALING VIBRATIONS PRESENTS WHERE I LIVE
Don't forget to use the comments box at the bottom of the page.
Hi and welcome back to Where I Live.
It's been a while since the last update. Most of you must thing nothing every happens in Ballarat. Well it does it's
just that I have been so preoccupied with other things that I have let this part of the site slip a far bit. But things
should (I hope) improve from now on.
I have moved to a new office in the house and have much more room and can now organise myself.
O.K. so what has been happening, well we had our annual Springfest in November and that is held around the shores of
Lake Wendouree and was a great success. The weather was just beautiful, it has been like that for a long time now which is
unusual for us here in Ballarat. We had the Australian Road Cycling Championships here as well. Did not get around to getting
photos of that sorry.
Christmas was a great time in Ballarat, with the weather being so fine and warm. There were lots of people out and about having
picnics and just enjoying life. I love Christmas it brings out the best in people. We were still not getting any rain and things
are starting to get a bit desperate around here.
You can see that the lake has dried up completely this has not happened for over 50 years. Some people have been out on the lake
collecting old bottles. I have heard that some have made quite a tidy sum of money from this. People have found old guns which the
police had to come and remove some were very old, probably thrown in there when the owner had no more use for them. People have
been taking the opportunity to walk on the lake bed, which is a little dangerous as the top crust is not very strong and the mud
underneath is very thick and sticky luckily no one has been hurt although some have gotten stuck.
We had Australia day on the 26th of January it is the first time in 3 years that it did not rain, although they did have to be
extra careful as we were under a total fire ban that day.
The council was able to go ahead as they held them on the lake foreshore and there was nothing that could have caught fire and
cause a lot of damage. I did remember to take some photos but they did not turn out too well so I could not put them up on the site.
The Ballarat City Council decided that as so many people were wanting to walk on the lake that they would organise a walk across
the lake and get a gold coin donation which is $1.00 or $2.00 Australian dollars and give it to charities. Over 6,000 people took
the opportunity to do this; they received a certificate to say that they had walked across the lake as this is probably the first
and last time this will happen. Unfortunately the council did not take the opportunity to deepen the lake although they did have
offers to have it done. They did though deepen the Olympic Rowing course so that's something I suppose.
A couple of Bulldozers got stuck in the mud in the process and had to be removed much to the delight of the locals, we always
like to see officialdom muck up. We had our world famous Begonia Festival in March, with parades and events. I missed the parade
as they held it at night this year and I did not realise never mind there is always next year. The Begonias were beautiful as
always. They are still out and I will go up to gardens and get some photos and put them up in the next week or so.
Talking about our gardens, I am sure some of you are wondering how our Giant Redwoods are progressing well I am pleased to report
that the council has not had to cut down a single tree yet. Although as you will see some are not doing so well and others are
coping fine although still struggling a bit. I have noticed a trend with this family of trees they seem to drop there inner leaves
(don't know if that is the correct term or not) and keep their outer ones so that they can capture any moisture that may be
around this is happening to all trees of this species around town. I can still feel the trees hurting and the crystals are
still working the magic. So all we can do wait for the rain to make an appearance, nothing seems to do as good a job as rain
it has a special quality that nothing else has everything just brightens up even after the smallest amount of rain.
We are getting ready for Easter here and I love this time of year as well (hey I love every time of year). Our autumn colours are
starting to appear on the trees I will get some photos for the next update, certain types of natives begin to flower now as well
as some introduced species, it's nice to have flowers in the dark of winter. We have been on daylight savings since the end of
October and will go back to normal and the end of March, I like daylight savings although there are a lot of people do nothing
but complain about it, each to there own.
I cannot think of anything else at the moment, so I will stop typing and wish you all the best for the coming weeks and will
talk to you soon.
May your journey be full of laughter and sunshine.
