Cleansing Healing Crystals

The methods for cleaning your healing crystals are many and varied. This are some methods that suit certain crystals better than others some healing crystals can dissolve in water and salt can eat into the surface of other crystals that you use for your healing, other crystals can fade if left in sunlite for too long. So you need to be aware of these effects on your crystals before cleaning them.

This is a list some methods that I have used and some that others have told me about.

Wash in sea water and let dry in sun (not all crystals can be cleansed this way due to their softness).

Use a smudge stick or incense Native American and African tribes have used this method for hundreds of years. Just move the crystal through the smoke to cleanse it.

Soak the crystals in sea salt for 7-24 hours rinse well and dry in sun. (Again some crystals are not suited to this method due to the softness).

Place crystals on a large cluster for 12-24 hours.

Surround the crystals with white light asking that negative energy be sent to the light

Use a tape de-magnetizer over the entire crystal,this removes the negative energy.

Hold the crystal under running water and dry in the sun.

Immerse the crystals in a bowl of flowers and allow the essence to cleanse the negative energy for about 24 hours.

Place the crystals in a bowl of brown rice again for around
24 hours. you can eat the rice when finished.

Use Reiki to cleanse your crystals, simpley send the Reiki Symbols into the crystals and ask that they be cleansed and energized.

Place the crystals in full sun or under a full moon.

Crystals can be buried in the earth for about 24 hours this will also cleanse and energize them.


When using a crystal cluster to cleanse your crystals, most people will recommend that you use an Amethyst or Quartz cluster, and while these work well, they themselves will have to been cleansed eventually.

I would recommend that you use a Citrine cluster, Citrine works very well in this capacity as it does not hold negative energy, but passes it directly to the light, it is excellent for this purpose. I always keep a Citrine Cluster or Citrine Crystal with my other crystals, and I find that I do not have to cleanse the crystals before I use them again, and if I am very busy I just place the crystals back into the cabinet and the Citrine goes to work removing the negative energe from the enviroment and the crystals concerned.
